Sweet potato fries have become the new trendy side at almost every dining establishment. While it is safe to say that sweet potatoes are a healthier potato option, most restaurants are creating ways of "junking" these perfectly good root vegetables up!

Rather than naked and baked - think coated in flour and deep fried
Instead of plain and letting the natural flavors tickle our tastebuds - most dining establishments will pour on a pound of unnecessary butter
A personal favorite - sweet tater fries served with a side of warm caramel sauce.
Of course, all of these options sound incredibly tasty, but these non-natural options add extra calories, contain hidden wheat, and sugars. Become a menu detective and inquire if the sweet potato fries came from a bag or if they are being made in house. While being made in-house doesn't ensure you won't find the fries tossed in gluten there is a greater chance you'll have an Au Natural sweet potato with your meal.
